Central Reserve Police Force
The Central Reserve Police Force came into existence as Crown Representative's Police on 27th July 1939. It became the Central Reserve Police Force on enactment of the CRPF Act on 28th December 1949. It has completed 74 years of glorious history. The Force has grown into a big organization with 231 Bn, (including 200 executive Bns, 4 Mahila Bns, 10 RAF Bns, 10 CoBRA Bns, 5 Signal Bns and 1 Special Duty Group & 1 PDG), 41 Group Centres, 20 Training Institutions, 3 CWS, 7 AWS, 3 SWS & 4 Composite Hospitals of 100 bed and 17 Composite Hospitals of 50 bed
How to Join in CRPF
The CRPF gives opportunity to those who have passed VIII standard up to graduates. Women can also get entries in some categories of CRPF. The selection board of Central Police Organizations (CPO) selected the officers of CRPF through competitive examination, physical test, medical test and interview.
One can join the CRPF at these levels:
Assistant Commandant (Group A Gazetted Officer) - 50% posts are meant for local promotion and 50% through direct recruitment by conducting competitive examination through SSB (CPOs) in rotation by para military forces.
Sub- Inspector: - 25% of the vacancies occurring in a year are being filled by direct recruitment through Staff Selection Commission.
Constable: Constable (GD) - 100% vacancies are filled by direct recruitment from open market. Constable (Tech/Trade) - Recruitment of Tradesmen and Technical Staff is decentralised and the vacancies of these categories are filled by Unit Commandant under the directions of Sectors IsGP after observing all due formalities
Followers (Cook/ Water Carrier/ Barber/ Washerman/ Safai Karamchari are the members of the CRPF that comes under followers category) - By respective Unit Commandant under the directions of Sectors IsGP after observing due formalities

Physical Standards/ PET: The candidate should be physically fit in all respects. The candidate should be able to complete 1 mile race in 10 minutes.
Eye sight: Should not be less than 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in other i.e. 6/6 for Rt. Eye inRt. handed individual and 6/6 for left eye in left handed individual without glasses. Should be free from colour blindness.
